Understanding Your Menstrual Cycle: What Every Young Person Should Know

January 11 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

HealthLink Specialist Philanthropy Society (HSPS) is hosting Understanding Your Menstrual Cycle: What Every Young Woman Should Know, a youth-friendly educational session for Black girls and young women in British Columbia.

Dr. Kiki Akinbobola will join the session as the guest speaker. She is a family doctor with a general practice in New Westminster, British Columbia, and is part of a group of family physicians who provide maternity care across the Tri-Cities area of Metro Vancouver.

During the session, Dr. Akinbobola will explain how the menstrual cycle works, discuss common period experiences, and highlight why cycle awareness supports overall reproductive health and wellbeing. The session creates a safe, respectful, and judgement-free space where participants can learn and ask questions.

Giveaways:

  • Free $15 gift card for participants
  • Three copies of Dr. Kiki Akinbobola’s book, Journey to Medical School: Demystifying the Process, will be given away
